Most of the art programs (Paint Shop Pro, Adobe Photoshop, etc.) have a layering capability. Here's the basic steps, but you might have to do a little searching throught your programs manual to figure out how to do the exact steps needed for your specific program. For clarification I'm going to list the following as sample referes for the rest of the steps:

Picture A: The Bridge (2400x3600 pixels)
Picture B: Your Modeling Photo (3600x1800 pixels)

1) Create a blank "new image" (4000x4000 pixels, slightly larger that the other source pictures)

2) Open both Picture A and Picture B. You should have three (A, B, and New) images active in your program.

3) Switch to Picture A and select all (usually Ctrl+A) and then copy (usually Ctrl+C).

4) Switch to the new image and then Paste as Layer (Ctrl+L for my program) you might have to go into the Edit menu on your program, highlight paste, and see if it brings up a Paste as Layer option. Once you do this you shoud see a copy of Picture A appear in the formerly blank image.

5) Switch to Picture B, select all, and copy. Then switch to the new image and paste Pic B as a layer. You should now have your modeling pic on top of the bridge picture.

6) Close the original Picture A and Picture B, you won't need them for any more steps.

7) Make sure you have layer 2 (Pic B, your modeling pic) selected as your active layer so that the next steps only affect that picture.

8) Switch to the Lasso Tool. This will allow you to trace around parts and select what you want to cut away. When you delete the first peice you should see the part of the bridge picture that was under it. Continute selecting and deleting the parts of your modeling picture until you have the desired effect. In this case you infront of a bridge for this example.

9) Use your move tool to reposition your model picture to the spot you want over the bridge picture. Merge all the layers (flatten) into a single image. You might have to go to the Layers menu tab, highlight Merge, and select Flatten (or Merge All) on your program. This will make it in to one single image.

10) Crop the image to the size desired.

11) Save the new image and that's pretty much it.

Now these are only the most basic steps, and the results will be pretty rough unless you tweak things and work on the details. A good artist with the right pics and a solid working knowledge of a quality art program can combine images and make the new image look like it was really taken, rather that assemble togther. Hope this helps you finish your project.
