Christmas is really about being with your family, not about the presents. The presents are just a benefit of the holiday.
Sit your kids down and explain that it may not be in the cards this year for extravagent presents, but have everyone make something for each other. That way, if anything, you're only spending a small amount of money on arts & crafts supplies.
Or check out your local Goodwill or Salvation Army. But please teach your kids the holiday isn't about what you receive. Just because someone gets an expensive gift doesn't make them the better person or any "cooler". The holiday is about spending time with your family. Enjoying being together. Plain & Simple.

I feel for you. I think there is a place called "Toys for tots" for this exact purpose. Try typying it in and see if there is a website. I think the marines organize it so check with your local recruiting office. Also, go to local food banks and ask. I would definitely check with local churches. Ask to speak to the minister or pastor and explain your situation. Is it possible to pick up a second job in the meantime? You could also talk to a prinicipal of a neighboring school and ask if students could donate toys that are new or look new (don't go to their own school because it might be embarassing). Also, look at the dollar stores (the ones that have actually everything for a dollar!) You'd be surprised at how many toys they have. You could gett 50 toys for $50! GOOD LUCK.

Contact your local social service dept., city hall or your kids school. They can connect you with the children charities in your area. Toys for Tots, Spark of Love, Salvation Army, and there are also tons of Christian charities. Good luck and my God Bless you & your family this holiday season.

Quit taking money to pay electricity for computer bills looking for a website; use that money to buy paper and drawing implements or some other tools to help them use and learn their creativity and sense yours
