If you're doing a project on it then prepare to be nauseated.
I wonder what kind of stuff a library would actually have. It's very graphic material, very horrible. One book is "The Rape of Nanking." There are various movies that touch on the subject (such as Farewell My Concubine and The Last Emperor), a documentary film called "Japanese Devils" (which I have never seen) other films like Devils on the Doorstep. . . .

This project is a bit lengthy to chew on, as there are many
names and dates to reference.
Suffice it to say, the geo-political world of the far east was in a state of constant turmoil, during the years of 1931 to 1945, and
the indomitable nature of Japanese conquest, you must turn to
a broader reference then what I can give you here.
And that would be the URL www.wikipedia.com under the heading the Second Sino-Japanese-China War and it goes
into the history and background as to why all that war occured,
and many references as to the motives of the Japanese Empire.
And one of the nastiest, despicable atrocities that were committed in those days was called the Rape of Nanking,
(Nanjing) a book that was written by a Chinese woman, Iris
Chang copywrite@1997 ISBN # 0-465-06835-9.
About the Forgotten Holocaust of World War II
Of course all her critics will nix all her facts and recollections,
but to all of those people, too bad, Ms. Chang knows what she is talking about, and it all happened just as she related.
So you will have to deal with it, on your own.
To get a thumb nail sketch of what I'm talkijng about, go to
www.wikipedia.com point and click on their search engine using the terms the Rape of Nanking (Nanjing)
Her story was one of the best written for her genre, and deserves
the Pulitzer award for excellence in journalism, for an independent writer, non-fiction.
The overall reason why the Japanese Empire went to war with their neighbors, is due to the fact they are an island nation, their
supply of natural resources had all but dried up, and therefore
were driven to commandeer or take over their neighbor's natural resources, rubber, wood, coal, etc.
Thats why they invaded Manchuria, set up puppet governments,
that would be favorable to the Japanese Empire, so they could make more weapons of mass destruction, and carry out more research and development on prosecuting an all out war, against the world, if necessary.
But for now, China was in Japan's crosshairs, and they fought the Chinese like ferocious tigers fighting over a scrap of raw meat!
Later they fought other enemies, and after the underhanded
attack on Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, on the morning (07:45 hrs GMT)
Sunday, December 7, 1941 three continuous waves of fighter
bombers hit battleship row, in the harbor, at Pearl Harbor, HI.
These attack planes were Japanese zeros, modified to carry maximum bomb payloads, and we know all the rest after that, and then the United States was drawn into armed conflict with the
Japanese Empire, and the rest is history, bloody though it was.
There is much data and information on the subject you have chosen, I would recommend you pick one section of it to
research and elaborate your final presentation, there are too many tributaries or details to bring out, so only choose the more salient thought patterns(story facts and figures) to highlight.
Of course you can only be as accurate as your resources are,
so keep in mind, historians may stretch the truth from time to time.
Thats my message, I hope it helps you, good luck.

Start with Qin dynasty.
The invaded nations are not only Japan, but also France, UK, Russia and Gernamy.
