i am 22 and i had a civil wedding in the philippines in the beginning of 2001. we were married by a judge in my hometown in front of close family members. my marriage is not working out, for me and my husband don't get along at all. i married him cause i was already pregnant. he still lives in the philippines and i, on the other hand, lives here in the US. i havent changed my status here, nor change my last name for i knew that our marriage was a big mistake in the first place. although i am considered not married here in the US, i want to be able to go on with my life and get my marriage in the philippines annulled. i can no longer afford to go back in tye philippines and at the same time, just don't want to go back there again.

You can always afford and save up money to return to the Philippines. If you qualify for an annullment, then all you need is to save or borrow about $800 for your roundtrip plane ticket to get your paperwork annulled. If you plan to remarry in the US while your VISA application was marked as being single, you are considered single in the eyes of US. However, if your husband in the Philippines learns about your re-marital status, he could make life for you difficult including deportation for false information on your application.

*ay, ano ang ginawa ng lalake na 'yan!? Bakit kinasal mo pa?!*

I'm a filipino and the mistake you made wasn't the marriage but having sex with him. Marriage was your second mistake when you realized your "love" for each other wasn't real at all.

How can he be in the Philippines? Shouldn't he be with you? Talk to him at least. Just to tell you, Annulment is the worst kind of separation from a husband and wife because records of even getting married will be rejected and you're child won't have a father. It will be like you and that guy never existed as Mr. and Mrs.

Tell him to go to the USA, consider talking for a while. You must consider something to keep a small friendship, a least, alive so the child can have a happy life. It's embarassing for a child not to have a dad.

Save enough money if HE can't go back. I wanna ask why you dont want to go back. Are you embarassed to see him or something? Anyways, not my business, just think first.
Hope you're doing this for the kid and not just for yourself...hoping good things to you!

Why wouldn't your marriage be valid here in the US?
