I put him down when I see signs that he is tired, change his bum, give him his pacy. He doesn't seem to wake up nicely anymore, just starts to wail the second he's awake (I have the monitor on and don't hear any movement first, only wails) I usually walk in and he's standing on the side of his crib (is 9 months) I lay him back down (thinking he's crying cuz he can't get himself back down yet) with his pacy (that has not fallen out), but he's right back up again screaming. I figure he's still tired since he's being so cranky, but end up taking him out because of the crankiness. Any advice as to why this is happening. He used to wake up so nicely, just babbling, now it's just a big cry.

And I would prefer not to have any comments about his pacifier. Thanks.

He sleeps, eats, then plays. When his nap is cut short because of the crying, he's content for at least an hour without a feed, so he's not hungry. (I feeds approx every 4hrs)

heck my son is 2.5 and still has a binky!

anyway.. sounds like he could be teething... just getting the bigger teeth so its hurting more

and you may just be right.. babies often get scared when they can pull themselves up... and cant get back down... its understandable... maybe try staying with him and showing him how :)

He probably wonders where you are and need some cuddles. Does he cry himself to sleep? If he does he might still be upset when he wakes up even if he didn't used to be. Nine months is an age of big changes- he needs your comforting presence. Just hold him and snuggle him until he's happy, then play with him or whatever you do.

It depends on how his living situation, has there been any changes in yours and his live, if so some kids take changes differently, but no matter the situation, your son is probably crying for attention and by all means he needs it for comfort. I do not beleive you can spoil a child rotten by holdingthem when they need comfort when they are an infant, thats called nurturing and if you ask me gives them trust , reasurance and confidence in you and themselfs.

He might be hungry or need a diaper change. I watch my niece while she is sleeping and by her face expression I can tell if she is having a bad dream.....Sometimes her eyes will open suddenly (kinda scary) then she will close them and fall back to sleep....Your son might be having bad dreams and waking up from them....You might want to monitor him while he is taking a nap and just watch his movements.

I didn't read that you have been giving him a bottle. Did you ever think that the reason why he is still crying is because he might be hungry? Good Luck, I hope that by you giving him a bottle to ease his hunger is the solution.

I have fifteen months boy and the same thing happened to him from time to time.Don't worry you have two reasons why that is happening or is it his jaw and teething or it is bad dream.
