Do XBox and Playstation in the USA have the NTSC or PAL system?

Do XBox and Playstation in the USA have the NTSC or PAL system? If I buy PAL games for Playstation 2 and XBox can I play them on my American Playstation 2 and XBox systems??

USA is an NTSC region. If you bought a PAL game for an American PS2 you couldn't play it because of the regional lockout Sony puts in their systems. For the XBOX it differs from game to game at the discretion of the individual publishers.
