Who wrote the music and words for "l'Internationale" - former anthem of the USSR?

Eugene Pottier wrote the words and the music was suppose to to the tune of La Marseillaise, which was composed by Claude Joseph Rouget de Lisle. Later it was set to music by Pierre Degeyter.
