A friend of mine recently told me that her cat died after it got into the trash and ate coffee grounds, it makes me wonder what other household items we don't even think of are harmful to our pets?

I think your friends cat got more than coffee grounds. There are labels on anything toxin, harmful etc. These things should always be kept away from children and animals, maybe even some adults. lol.
