I created a spreadsheet which has 10 worksheets with many rows and columns. My spreadsheet has no macros and the most complicated formula it has is an IF statement.
All the rest are sums that are used for budgeting purposes. When I save it the file size is 221MB...How can I reduce this? Is it a mistake I did that increased its file size? It looks too simple to big so large.

1- This happened because you made a format to all rows for a specific column (Or all columns).
SOLUTION: Remove the format for the rows that are below your data rows until row 65536.
This usually when you make special formats to the entire column.
I had issues like these before and when I deleted the formats the size returns back

2- Excel97 usually had this issues when you insert a picture into a sheet, it converts it to BMP and saves it in the file
SOLUTION: Use Excel XP or 2003

3- Some macros are causing a big file size, you need to make sure that you don't have macros like these.
SOLUTION: Run an update for your AntiVirus

4- mail me through Y! Answers for details and more solutions

it is most like saving all the blank rows and columns. running a simple macro would remove these and reduce the size some. also it there any images in the file that are not reduce could take up alot of memory. Email me or IM for VBA script if you want to try.
