Anyplace not cloudy and that does not have too many bright lights will do. Just look anywhere in the sky. The meteors can appear anywhere in the sky. Look after midnight though, because the radiant won't rise until then. The later at night you look, the better. 4:00 AM would be the best time to look.

The predictions are not that good this year. A few years ago I saw 50 bright ones per hour. This year they are predicting 10 or 15 per hour, and maybe not bright ones either. Also, the peak time is before the radiant rises in the US, so Europe will see the best show. If the predictions are correct.

HI... I'm in the eastern standard time and according to this website, the best time for us to observe it will be 11:45 PM EST which is 8:45 your time.

My friends want me to go out bar hopping with them on Saturday night and when I found out today that this meteor shower will be on the same night I became torn between the two. I'm actually thinking of skipping the night out with friends to see the meteor shower. I love astronomy! Hope you get a good show on the west coast although I hear we will get the better show.
