Will a doctor induce labor at 37 weeks if you are in severe pain? Im almost 35 weeks, and have been on bed rest since about 30 because of serious back pain, pelivic problems, and a large baby He's measuring 2 weeks ahead of time. I can bearly keep anything down from seriously bad nausia, and I cannot sleep because of all the pain. My daughter was born at 37 weeks and the doc said she was absolutly perfect, wieghing 7'7lbs. (she measured on time) Im positive he will be fine. I want to wait until he is full term (I hear it is now 36) so i figure 37 would be perfect. Any ideas?

Most likely they will if they feel your baby's lungs are developed enough. But if they don't, there's no law that says you can't try shaking him loose by driving up and down a bumpy dirt road.

I mean, if you come into the hospital in labor at 37 weeks, what are they going to do? Try to shove him back in and stick a cork in ya? lol

My Dr. induced my labor at 35 weeks because my baby was in trouble, my 'water leaked' did not break and there was a chance of infection, dangerous to my baby. Though she was a little one, she was and is beautiful, healthy and a happy, typical 16 year old now. Babies today have a much better chance at coming through this ordeal than years back. Mine was born through C Section because the inducing was not working, my body knew it was not time, but all turned out wonderful and I'm sure it will for you too!! I'm sorry for all the pain and worry you are going through now, but just keep looking for the day you will hold your little one in your arms for the first time :) it's the best! Best to you and yours.

I have heard that 38 weeks is considered "safe" to deliver. Not too many doctors will vary from this but it is a question you need to address with your OB. I had my fourth baby at 36 weeks 6 days and she had to be put in the NICU due to breathing problems. However, I did not get a steriod shot (helps mature baby's lungs) before I gave birth to her. Maya was a fast birth! I have also given birth to two babies at 38 weeks and they were fully mature with no problems. It seems to me that the longer you can safely keep baby in utero the better the outcome. It is difficult when you are dealing with constant pain and nausea. I hope you and your doctor can come to a happy (and healthy) decision!

37 Weeks is still considered premature. Unless there was something wrong with the baby I doubt they would induce you. Maybe you can talk to your doctor to see what he can or will do for you if you're in that much discomfort. Talking to your doctor would be the best advice I could give you.

your right, full term is 36 weeks so the doctor can induce you. So, congrats! and I really hope that you have a beautiful healthy baby.

maybe. I was induced at 38 weeks but doctors are usually skeptical if it's your first pregnancy. They usually don't like to induce any earlier than they absolutely have to.

i hope you have spoken to your doctor about all of this pain. 36 weeks is full term and he will probably induce pretty quickly.

I would think that it would be fine for them to induce at this point...and it sounds like your having a lot of trouble...so, for the sake of your health I would hope that they WOULD induce you...I dont know though...some doctors are kinda anal about that...
