have you ever resorted to child like banter in an argument?

ex: (sadly all exact quotes: mom and her hubby)
you left the milk out
no i didn't
yes you did
no i didn't, you probably did it to blame me
you are such a liar
you are such a nag and you still left the milk out
no, you did
(so on and so on)

My first husband would resort to this tactic in order to avoid all confrontation with me, especially more so when he was clearly in the wrong. I finally realized it was his way of not having to feel responsible for anything, big or small.
Now I'd expect this tactic if I were to be bitching about the milk being left out or something trivial. But this tactic should never be used when serious issues are brought up.

NO, no since in argueing with a child over milk or what ever the case maybe, ask once if they say no, then you have to put some trust into your child, if you catch them in a lie, then you explain the consequences due to the lie, either then that I do all the work myself, my kids have no chores at all!

(From memory, but almost exact quotes)
I stopped to pay this month's bill at the convenience store and it was out of sight. You're buying your gas there.
Yeah, what's wrong with that?
It's the highest gas in town!
Well, they pump it for me.
OH! Do they clean your windshield or check your oil?
No.
Then buy gas at a self serve place. You're young and healthy.
OK.

A month later.

Are you still buying your gas at the convenience store?
Uh huh. I haven't decided which self service place to use. But the bill can't be very high this time, I've only been buying $5.00 worth at a time.

I know you are, but what am I?
I'm rubber you're glue, whatever you say bounces off me and sticks to you.

Wow. If that was really an argument, they need help! I'm sorry that you have to be subjected to that kind of "adult" behavior.
