Don't freak out- babies' head shapes change during their first year. As soon as the baby's fontanelle (the "soft spot") starts to close, his/her head will round out eventually. Even if the baby's head remains a little flat, it won't be so noticeable once he/she grows hair. A lot of adults have flat spots on their head, but you wouldn't be able to tell unless they were bald.

It is pretty common for an infant to get a flat spot on their head since we were advised to put them to sleep on their backs. It is usally caused by laying on that one spot more than any other. If it is on the side you can try to get get him/her to look the other way by placing something eye catching on that side. If it is on the back you can give him/her more tummy time. If the flat spot is severe, they can make a mold of your baby's head to make a helmet that he/she would wear many hours a day for so many months. That is usually when they get older and if the changing positions doesn't work.
My 10 month old still has a spot on the side of her head that isn't as round as the other, but since changing her positions and the fact that she is sitting up or standing most of the time the spot is not as noticeable, and my Dr told me not to worry about it.
Hope this helps!!

Its reversible, but keep the baby off of it's head. Give it lots of tummy time or have it play on a boppy pillow. If it continues to stay flat for serveral months, your Dr. should reccomend a helmet to wear all the time.

Don't lay him on his back all the time try switching his position more often throughout the day and when you wash or rub his head do it in a circular motion. Their skulls are very soft right now, so yes it is reversible but you have to be diligent about not laying him on his back all the time.

give up hectic! My daughter is 7 one million/2 months previous and merely began sitting up a pair of weeks in the past. I even have been having "pushy" theory too, thinking why she isn't crawling and such. My mom is a 50+ 12 months previous nurse with a existence of experience interior the being pregnant and birthing ward, and she or he's a mom of three, so she many times has some reliable solutions for me, being a typical time mom. Your new child gets there whilst she or he's waiting... i be conscious of what you recommend approximately letting others' techniques get to you, my fiance retains telling me that she ought to be crawling and enjoying and such yet she would not somewhat "play" yet. she will attain for issues and throw her palms around, yet purely makes use of her left hand. do now not enable what others say get you down or disenchanted! My wellness care specialist even stated that maximum of the folk of infants she has seen these days are not crawling till nearer to 9 months previous. merely loosen up and luxuriate interior the time you proportion along with her or him! and don't experience to blame approximately having the techniques that he/she ought to be crawling via now, each new mom has those ;)

this happened to me. definitely tummy time when he's awake. as much as possible. i had one of those crib positioner things with memory foam for under his head. i think this actually CAUSED the problem. he would move during his sleep and his head would fall to the side, half off of the pad. the best thing is to keep him off of that spot while he's awake. as his head grows, it will correct. 21/2 months gives you some time but start correcting it now. your pediatrician should talk to you about this if he/she feels it's an issue. maybe at the next visit, you should mention your concerns about it. keep in mind, no one has a perfectly round head.

When you lay your baby down, try to change the way their head touches the bead. Don't always lay them down the same way, it is possible to fix that if you keep on it. Sometimes though, that's just how the babies head is going to stay and there's nothing you can do about it.

when your baby isn't sleeping keep him out of bed. Give him lots of tummy time. this is caused by laying down too long, as their skull is soft right now. good luck.
