last night i parked my car outside the garage for the first time ever.....we just moved to this quiet little neighborhood a few weeks ago....i took my husband to work this morning at three thirty and everything was tore out i left my purse in there and my debit card is gone...i called and cancled it but is there anything else i should do....file a police report? i have no idea who would have done this i havnt made any enemies for years and if i do have some they dont know where i live? was it random? im really mad i finally started to feel safe here and now its ruined...

Yes, you should file a police report. While the police will most likely not go on a manhunt looking for the person who stole your debit card and any other things that may be missing you will receive a copy of the report. Your bank may request to reverse any unauthorized charges that may appear on your account.

Was there any damage to the car? If so,file a police report. Did you loose anything of value? File the report.

Ok I swear I didnt do it. As for filing a report, its a pointless your stuff is gone, just consider it a lesson learned. Always lock your doors and always take your stuff in the house. Never take a chance even in a small town.

Of course you should file a police report. You will need it for any insurance claim or to prove unuathorized charges. The police need it to plan patrols, etc.

Enough already with the car break-ins. We need to shoot scum who commit these acts. Maybe they will realize the severity of their actions a bit more readily. Car thieves should also be subject to the "shoot to kill" rule of law enforcement. I am sure we would see a dramatic decrease in the number of auto thefts thereafter.
