They can. Typically thought they dont kick in until the 4-5. but it all depends on how quickly your body is changing and the uterus is running out of internal space.
Round tendon pain stops you in your tracks. It takes your breath away and hurts like a pulled muscle, or even a sprain. Its a tight, hot searing pain.
Generally the pain you feel at 2-3 months is just the smaller muscles and ligaments stretching and pulling. Theyre tight, feel like theyre making your skin stretch and burn, and generally pinch and make you uncomfortable.
The best thing to do is to stay active, it helps them stretch faster. The pain doesnt last more than a couple days.

Round ligament pains come from the round ligaments stretching as the uterus grows. The round ligaments give lateral support to the uterus and are normally short, as the uterus is small. In pregnancy everything stretches.
The most common time for these to hurt is in the second and early third trimester (think major uterine growth)

What is round ligament pain?
Round ligament pain generally refers to a brief, sharp, stabbing pain or a longer-lasting dull ache that pregnant women commonly feel in the lower abdomen or groin, starting in the second trimester.
You may feel round ligament pain as a short jabbing sensation if you suddenly change position, such as when you're getting out of bed or out of a chair or when you cough, roll over in bed, or get out of the bathtub. You may feel it as a dull ache after a particularly active day — when you've been walking a lot or doing some other physical activity.
The round ligaments surround your uterus in your pelvis. As your uterus grows during pregnancy, the ligaments stretch and thicken to accommodate and support it. These changes can occasionally cause pain on one or both sides of your abdomen.
You may feel the pain starting from deep inside your groin, moving upward and outward on either side to the top of your hips. The pain is internal, but if you were to trace it on your skin, it would follow the bikini line on a very high-cut bathing suit.

i have had them from day 1 but since i hit bout 18weeks the are painful, I'm now 22 weeks and some days i just cry coz they are so uncomfortable i keep getting checked by doctor but baby is fine, i find its like after running you can sometimes get a very sharp stitch in your side only i wish i could run!!! sometimes simple things like a short walk can bring mine on or just sitting.
my doctor is going to get me some physio in a few weeks which may ease it off a little.
so id say that at 2-3 months its possible that's what you are feeling although everything is stretching at that stage so it may just be that and ease off in a few weeks
good luck x x x x
