What are the cons of fur coats...?

Ranch-raised foxes are kept in cages only 2.5 feet square (minks in cages 1-foot-by-3-feet), with up to four animals per cage.

Animals can languish in traps for days. Up to 1 out of every 4 trapped animals escapes by chewing off his or her own feet, only to die later from blood loss, fever, gangrene, or predation.

Every year, thousands of dogs, cats, raptors, and other so-called "trash" animals (including endangered species like the bald eagle) are crippled or killed by traps.

To kill the animals without damaging their fur, trappers usually strangle, beat, or stomp them to death. Animals on fur farms may be gassed, electrocuted, poisoned with strychnine, or have their necks snapped. These methods are not 100 percent effective and some animals "wake up" while being skinned.

The animals they steal this fur from are treated in disgusting ways. They are skinned alive and left to lay dying on top of other skinned and dying animals. Do some research on something called 'Chinese fur farms', but I warn you, what you will see and learn will haunt you. PETA has many videos on their site about the fur trade but again, these images are worse than you can imagine. Fur coats are completely unnecessary and completely disgusting. I don't want to die so that some rich turd can wear my skin! Good luck on your paper. Anything that anyone can do to help our furry friends makes a difference.

-Cleaning is very hard to do
-Often people who are animal rights activists will not be your friend and most people will just say 'think of the animals' but often animals are breed and reproduced in high volume for their fur and to not create an extinct species
-Some people have allergic reactions to certain types of furs
-Some furs will shed and lose softness over time.

Just my view of course, maybe it's very one sided and borderline ill informed but maybe some thoughts will spark your ideas.

Besides killing gorgeous animals who aren't done wearing theirs...
It's still considered a status symbol among small circles of superficial persons.
The coats aren't practical in this day and age when considering the invention of fabrics /materials that are lighter, thinner, warmer and more protective from the elements.
Most normal people find them gaudy and a source for directing disgusted stares.
The person is wearing another creature's skin.... yuck!
Also remember fur farms... a dismal caged "life" for beautiful, intelligent animals.
I'm sure there's more but my blood pressure's up....I gotta go relax! :)

Dry cleaning only, will loose some of the hair as time goes on, which will annoy you if you wear fabrics that like to attract hair, and its suggestable to not wear it all the time, which means you will need to store it in a dark, cool, non-damp location. Some places store fur coats, but you pay monthly.

ok well some poor animal lived in horrible conditions only to be killed for its fur
somebody could come along and pour paint on you becuase you wear fur
people who wear fur often do so for a status sign... which clearly demonstrates low self esteme
they require special storage in summer
it often takes MANY dead animals to make 1 coat...

good luck I dont support people wearing fur.. however leather is different since leather is a by-product of the meat industry and cows are not slaughtered solely for one part

C) if its a false fur 1 its sheds even more.... and when its being made chemicals are being released from the factory
