Stat, from statim is a medical term meaning "immediately" (from Latin) or Sooner Than Already There.
Statim is Latin for "immediately" and is used abbreviated, stat, in medical terminology for the same meaning. For example, if a patient is dying a physician might shout "Get a crash cart stat!" indicating that the lifesaving tools be brought as fast as possible.

Stat in a medical setting means right away or now with a sense of urgency. Usually it's used where a patient is in a serious condition that needs to be addressed right away and cannot wait.

Now in capital letters NOW. Like Emergency Now.
The funny thing is in real life hospital you can write STAT on x-ray requests and it is never responded to as STAT, so does no good. They usually just do requests ordered Stat based on what they consider is STAT. Almost everyone writes STAT so it is abused. ASAP doesn't get much better results. If you want something stat, you best make a personal call (doctor to doctor) or Doctor to lab).

Stat simply means they want something right away, without delay, immediately. Most medical terms come from the Latin language.

There's some comic who comments on this - he used to be in medical school.

"Because there's no better way to get someone life-saving, immediate attention then to speak in a dead language".

How about if the police yelled "congelitum" instead of "freeze"?
