Yiu would first decide how many decimal places you are going to consider. The usual is 3. Then work it from there...;

You can express any number as a fraction by placing the number over 1 like so 8.9/1. To turn a number into a decimal simply divide by 1 with as many zeros as needed to shift the decimal places.

8.9/10 = 0.89, 8.9/100 = 0.089, etc. For each 0 shift the decimal place 1 place to the left.

You put it between parenthesis.
When you divide 10/3 it gives you an infinite set of 3s so you would write it like this:
3.33(3)
On a calculator, the decimal is always rounded to the nearest number.
If it was 6.66(6) the calculator shows the whole number, but the last digit to the right would be 7.

I think u mean '8.9 infinity' to be '8.9999999...' so u cud connote it as '8.9' with a dot over the '9'. I must confess I dunno how to express the .9 but I can show u a .3 example?

.33333333 = 1/3
so 8.3 = 8 + (1/3) = 25/3
