You could try the System Restore which takes you back to a time when your computer was working good. Go To:
start
programs
accessories
systems tools
system restore
This process is completely reversable. And does not remove your personal files. Just go back one checkpoint at a time until your puter is working good again.

If your refering to the system restore feature used in Windows XP, you won't lose any data files i.e. documents, pictures, ect.. You will however have any programs that were installed removed and your systems files and setting restored to the restore point you choose.

Your data won't be destroyed but installed programs after the particular restore point you choose will be gone. And you can also undo the restoration if you want.

Just a note here.......if you are thinking of using System Restore to clear up your virus problem, it may not work. Many viruses duplicate themselves into the system restore files.....similar to spyware and adware. Again, try to look up the virus and follow the suggested removal method. Good luck!
