I'm about 5'1, 95 lbs (all of my family are very petite) and at the ob visit last time I had gained 2-3 lbs. I normally have a struggle putting on weight. I just got back from a cruise where I ate constantly and I thought I was showing but I'm back now and cant see it. My dr said I might not show till 4-5 months but I'm worried.

Wow you sound like me! I am 5'4 and was 94 pounds when I got pregnant. I have ALWAYS struggled to put on weight. I got to where I was eating everything in sight at first and got up to 102 pounds at around 10 weeks. I got sick for 2 months and I am just now getting better but I was only 96 pounds when I could eat again. Now I am 100 pounds and the baby is doing great. I am 18 weeks now. I actually started feeling the baby at 14 weeks because I am so thin. Don't worry if you don't though, you may not know what to look for. My mom told me that it felt like someone was thumping her lightly from the inside from her belly button down. I am showing pretty good now at 18 weeks. You have nothing to worry about hun as long as no other problems have accured. My baby is growing strong and kicking even stronger now. I found out it was a girl too! You have a lot of exciting things to look forword to if your body acts anything like mine. Have fun and good luck!

Oh and by the way, I have gained 5 inches on my waist!

Everyone is different. You'll probably start showing around 5 months.........don't worry. You'll catch up! Go get a book called " what to expect when you are expecting" by Heidi Murkoff. It's the pregnancy bible and will help with all these questions. I refer to it almost daily right now and I am due Feb 2, 2007. Your question as well as many others that you would not expect is in there. It's excellent in describing all of these little things that worry moms and help distinguish when something is "normal" or not.
Good Luck!

Everyone shows at different times. With my daughter, I started showing early (enough to tell I was pregnant) but didn't get much bigger till the last month or so. Genetics is a big factor. Did your Mom show late? Don't worry. Some women don't show till towards the end. It's normal :)

Congrats!

No need to worry at all - your doctor is right - not everyone puts weight on too much and sometimes it only shows when you stand in a certain position. As long as you are eating all the right things then everything will be OK. Good luck.

I would think you would show a little now.

Better make sure you are taking your prenatal vitamins and eating right.

I have heard of people who never knew they were pregnant and just had the baby. If you are petite, then it might just be your baby will be smaller and won't show up yet.

It's not good to worry, just relax, worrying won't solve anything.

Your doctor is probably right, when you are 5 months, you will probably show

I started showing at about 5-6 months and thats when I began wearing maternity clothes too. People always made comments like are you sure you're pregnant. Then all of a sudden I popped and people are like wow!! So it will come. Maybe not as fast as you'd like but you'll show soon enough. Good Luck!

Don't worry. If the doctor isn't concerned, then you don't need to be either. I am 14 weeks with my first pregnancy and am just starting to show a little. Friends of mine have been 20 weeks or more before they started showing with their first. Just keep eating healthy and it will happen... and remember when you are 36 weeks pregnant and miserable, swollen, etc that you couldn't wait to start showing... lol... It will happen... just relax...

I didn't show with my first pregnancy till my sixth month and I was average size. With my current pregnancy I showed almost right away. I'm heavier this time but also my muscles and ligaments have already been stretched. Just realx.. Before you know it you won't beable to see your feet anymore! Congrats!
