I have a good trail leg but I can't seem to figure out if that is the reason or if it's because I don't use a starting block.

A starting block would be good. To help your leg, go to a track-field and practice jumping over posts or fences!

Good-Luck!

Train with the hurdles slightly higher, because when you're in a race situation tension tends to effect leg lift and therefore you would chance hitting the barriers. Because muscle memory thinks hurdle is higher you will sail over the obstacles and you can concentrate on flat speed. Lets know how your times go and good luck!

I would first start using a starting block. They really do help you. It's going to take time to get comfortable in them but it should help you out. Remember that when you come out of the starting block stay low don't stand straight up, this will cost you time also.

well the problem is that u cannot get used to the timing between distance of the next hurdle... try training with the poles...low height and slowly raised it up bit by bit :D
