have a pyjama day, the kids pay a pound to come in dressed in their pj's, it will be fun for them and you will raise a fair bit of money!!

also do you know anyone that can do face painting that could come in and do a few hours of that, kids love having their faces painted.

for the older classes you could get them to do a sponsored silence. this is one the teachers will love :-)

you could organise a bake sale during break time chocolate rice crispy cakes are cheap to make and kids love them.

all of these can be done on the same day. it could be the start of an annual fun day so that you are guaranteed to have funds for next years party too.

good luck

How about a raffle (A few books, a bottle of whisky, a free window-clean...)

Bring back bob-a-jobbing...

Make and sell some Xmas cards...

Put on a show of some sort (fireworks, a play). Either at the school or somewhere public...

Approach local businesses and offer them free advertising at the party and on leaflets to parents if they help to fund it...

Jumble or bring and buy sale...

A 'slave' sale (people offer their services: window-cleaning, housework for a day, a lift to work)...

Get the parents to sponsor the kids (or each other!) to dress up as some kind of animal for a day (could be quite entertaining going into the office wearing bunny ears and a fluffy tail over your suit!).

Hope that helps a bit - good luck!

Organise a thrift sale for furniture, clothes, old games.......parents contribute.
Bracelet/Necklace sale, bake sale, carol/hymn service.
Telent show, fete day, face painting, nail painting, hair styling....
Have the mothers have a coffee morning/evening.
Dads have a football/golf/cards evening....charge entrance/food and beverages.
I know some of these have been done before, but I've worked as a teacher for 5 years and all of these have been done and worked!
Best of luck!

You could have an auction of promises - get each member of the pta to volunteer something they each have easy access to and hold an auction for them.

For example, a pta member could volunteer to clean someone's house / car for them, or if someone had a particular skill like painting they could auction a free portrait of the highest bidder. or let a bidder drive their particularly nice car, babysit, take to dinner, etc.etc.

Everyone has something of value to auction off - even if its just to take them out to dinner!
