26 year old middle class caucasian from Canada.
I am sick of working a ft job just to go home and be expected to do all the work there. Men expect us equal rights women to pay all the bills, but then they dont share in the house work. I am sick of it. Women work much harder then alot of men these days. I think soon you will find the stats that use to say women live longer then men drop.
We are doing far more then our share these days and I am god damb tired.

I'm glad that I am a woman in America.
I'm from North Carolina and I'm 35.
I'm Hispanic, working class, in a long term relationship, Roman Catholic, and right now I'm a stay at home mom.
I feel that American society is still a bit prejudiced toward Hispanics and African Americans. It's annoying when people assume that I'm an illegal immigrant or that I speak Spanish really well ( I don't) There are a lot of jobs here but not many that pay well enough for me to work full time. I want to go back to college and get a different degree so we can afford a house.
I think that I live in a great country, but I wish that our government would do more for working families. I'm not looking for hand outs or welfare, just an even chance with everyone else. Our health insurance has gone up another $100 per month and it's getting hard to afford it. My boyfriend has a good job, but I want one too, with affordable and safe day care.
Basically, I wish that my younger brothers and sister will have it easier than me. I worry about gangs and crime in our city. I want to live out in the country, with a big garden!

I am a 34 yr old white British woman. I am married with three kids, oldest from previous relationship.
I'm agnostic (with atheist tendancies) and I supose I am lower middle class, although financially I only just live above the bread line because hubby is only bread winner (at the moment)
I am a chemist working in the cosmetic industry, I formulate lipsticks, eyeshadows, creams, lotions and potions, and am in the middle of setting up my own business making exactly those things after a 5 year career break.
My career break was enforced rather than voluntary, I had planned to take just 1 year off after second child, but third came along and plans were abolished. Not only that but child care in this counrty is appaulingly expensive and I just coudn't return to work. Still can't which is why I am hoping to go it alone andmake my own money. Before my career break I was main earner, so we took a 60% drop in income when two youngest came along. (I was a working single mother befor hand and felt very empowerd by this) but the reality now is far from empowering.
I feel that being a woman in britain today is really hard, rights are one thing, but when those right become impossible to exersice we may as well not have them. The right to have it all is not really about 'doing it all' and equality doesn't exist in society or the work place. When my kids are sick at school who gets the phone call? Not my husband that's for sure. Attitudes need to change around working when you have kids in this country, and that goes for both men and women. If the burden was halved then maybe we may reach some where near equality, and that is my hope for the future. Women have fought for the right to a career AND family, and it can work, but only if men's attitudes change too, and they can take off some of that resposibility. Employers wouldn't have a choice over a man or woman for a position just because of the age of the kids, both would be equally liable for time off in emergencies. I really hope this will become a topic for debate here in this country.
As a mother I feel a failiure (comes with the placenta, I know) because I am not as happy being 'just' a wife and mother as I was when I worked. I feel they are missing out on the best of me. Depression has taken hold over some periods of motherhood, and this has been a struggle to shake off. My kids are beautiful well adjusted kids, so I must have done something right, but I cannot help but feel they would be even more level headed and have even greater attitudes to life, if I was the woman I know I am. My lust for life is starting to return now that I am making my own career opotunities, and my kids already seem so much better for it. I am so glad, because for all the people who say working mothers take something away from their kids, I know I will give something to mine.
Those are my experiences anyway. Good luck with your studies.

I'll reserve judgement till I've seen it. Though as I've done the journey its not of any great interest to me. My understanding is channel 4 have signed up to transmedia watch so it should be balanced & show people in a positive light. As for the causes I don't understand why people are so fixated on finding a reason. I don't need to understand why some other people have blue eyes or red hair ?? Fundamentally though most people are not that interested in the science or hormones or surgery & looking at the stuff on the C4 site this is more of a story about the people going through transition.

My name is Jillian, I'm a Caucasian, 25 year old female. I consider myself to be lower/middle class (live paycheck to paycheck) I'm married (two years) and have a four year old son named Christian. I am a Loan Officer/Processor at Motorcity Mortgage in Taylor Michigan. I feel like I have no control over the world my son is about to grow up in, it scares me. Things have changed so much just since I was a kid, you can't even let your kids play outside without worrying about if they are going to get picked up by some pervert freak killer, and you'll never see them again! I sometimes wish I had the means to move to another country, like India, (my boss is from there) at least there they have capital punishment and crime is lower, there I could live like a queen! I'm sick of going home to work all over again, dinner, dishes, laundry, cleaning, kids baths, and taking CARE OF my husband! I have no time for myself not even to read a good book for 5 min. I'm tired! I NEED A VACATION!!

I am a middle aged college educated (AAS,BFA) self employed artist in America- born and raised. My opportunities are enhanced by my country and the education and freedoms it affords me. My chance at the adventure, travel and meeting of people as I get older has only increased. Not rich, but paying the bills with a husband who is an immigrant and a citizen. He is South African English, I am American- which means a mix-Irish,scotch,German,welsh,English and french--not just" white".The main advantage women need worldwide, regardless of race, creed, religion etc-is education and the freedom that it affords and the chance to better their countries, families and economics both personally and in terms of their country- the result of that would be huge- the loss of that would be devastating in my opinion.
