I am getting ready to work 2nd shift and my children (10 and 8) would be home alone for 2 hrs be4 my husband gets home. My 10 year old is very mature for her age. Both of my children know what to do in an emergency. I will also have rules posted that will be followed. Can I get in trouble for this?

Bad Idea.very bad Idea....If anything happens you could end up in Jail and the children taken away...no mattter how good your intentions are. Even though a 10 yo may act mature does not mean they are.
Not only would you have worry about anything happening by acccident..you would have to worry about any stalkers who notices the 2 alone...and 2 children alone at home alone for 10 min is long enough for them.
It's best to talk with neighbors or hire a sitter for the short time you need...there is no price too much for their safety.

Call your local police department and ask. I know an officer here once stated he thought kids at age 8 are old enough to be left alone. I guess it depends on how responsible your kids are, And if it's only for a couple of hours.....I don't see any harm. Good luck!
