There are several things to check... first unthread it, turn the wheel manually, watch to see if needle goes down in correct manner, could be hitting on sides of throat plate. Check all your tensions, (make sure machine is threaded correctly). Clean any lint out of bottom of throat plate, make sure bobbin is wound right and correctly installed. Make sure thread is same weight on top & bottom, and correct needle for weight of thread, and fabric is used. Other than all that it may need a good cleaning and oiling. And make sure you are putting the needle in correctly. You did not say if this is a new machine, they tend to get messed up easier, and harder to figure out. Hope I helped you! Good luck!

there could be several problems. the tension is probably too tight....but it could also be you are not getting the needle all the way in the right position....or the material you are sewing needs a tougher needle, like one made for heavy materials like jean or suede.....is the needle positioned in the middle or to the left or right, sometimes that can cause the needle to strike wrong on the plate which will break it.

hope these suggestions were helpful, if you cannot fix it, i would suggest to take it to a repair shop. if you mess up the gears on it too bad it ruins the machine.

in peace,
lily ;)

Check the size of the needle for the fabric you are sewing. I usually use a size 11 needle unless I am sewing something heavy.

the needle may not be strong enough for the material you are sewing. Singer models have a variety of needles available. I had to buy a heavier needle for sewing denim, because the standard one kept breaking. Hope it helps!

Are you using good quality needles? If not, try some and see if they make a difference. Also, what fabric are you working with? It may be too thick for the needle.

It could be that the tension on your thread is too tight or the needle might not be aligned correctly with the bobbin. You might go on line to the manufacturer site and see if they have a trouble shooting page to help you fix the problem.

Your needle might be facing the wrong way, there might be lint or something near the bobbin and making the needle break
