Aww, poor little guy! Could be teething, or it could be his way of self-soothing. My daughter pulls at her ear when she's self-soothing.

Doctors often swear that there is no correlations between teething and illness. As a mother I can tell you this, babies get ear infections, colds, and rashes more often at this time. The swelling and excessive saliva is a breeding ground for infection, plus they tend to chew on anything to get relief from the discomfort of cutting a tooth. You know your baby best. Try giving him a little Tylenol or other pain reliever for babies. Give him a teething ring, keep an extra one in the freezer, the cold feels good and relieves swelling. If he still has symptoms go back to the doctor, remember, the doctor works for you, so be the boss.

Teething is associated with ear pain. But maybe your child is just smart and is using a pressure point to relieve the pain. My daughter pulls on her ear and she's teething. But she does this when she's tired to. And no infections.
But it may have developed into a ear infection to.So I would call and go back if you see any fluids coming out of the ear.

i definitely think ur intuition is correct...its probably that his teeth are bothing him....my daughter, now 15 months, still has teeth coming in...and to this day will tug at her ears....she always gets a runny nose...which in turn probably causes ur son's cough...(post nasal drip)...youll probably notice some swelling of his gums ....then a few days later a tooth cutting thru...after the first couple teeth...u'll see that this will be a regular routine when new teeth are expected....on occasion i have used baby tylenol or baby motrin. the oragel gel works great to...but make sure u read directions....my doctor said only give them medicine when their symptoms are changing their demeanor.... good luck....itll soon be over...and ull have a big koolaid smiling kid lookin up at ya!

I would take him back in as it sounds like his ear may be infected. At this age the little tubes in their ears and in their sinus's can get stopped up and cause infection.

Ears can be sore due to teething. The little boy I watch recently had that problem and his mother told me it was normal, because I was concerned about him rubbing his ears. She had him checked.

Sometimes teething can cause ear aches and/or ear infections. I would see your doctor again and have him retested.

It's probably just from the teething. If a fever pops up though, I would make an appointment.
