Did anyone view these films as pure entertainment or did they affect anyone enough to change your views and opinions and if so what were these effects and how did they impact on you.

I saw crash and thought it was amazing. I think that it presented the reality of racism in America and perhaps around the world. It hit the nerve of many people. While it hasn't changed me, I am more aware of my own actions and whether I'm influenced at all by race even slightly. I think the opening scene had the most impact and the woman's reactions were true to life and perhaps rang true to some people. Bringing these issues up front and showing the subtle and not so subtle examples of everyday racism reminds me we have so far to go.

I still think about that movie even though i saw it over a year ago.

Unfortunately, I haven't seen all of city of god. I'll go back to my collection and see it again. I did see Maria Full of Grace which has also stuck with me. This was one of the sadest movies I've seen in a while. It hit home the risks these women took so some junkie or high powered lawyer can get his hit. They felt they had no choice. It reminds you of what we have and how most of us feel quite entitled. It really is disgusting.

I haven't seen City of God, but I have seen Crash, several times, and it definately impacted me. It's also taken top place on my favorite movies list.

The entire concept of Crash, aside from the racism aspect, made me think. How one incident in one life can impact another life so drastically .... like ripples on the water, constantly running into the next, with the effects spreading wider and wider. It makes you realize, when you really stop and think about it, that every action you take is important, and can have negative and positive effects on the people around you .... and people you've never met.

Edit: For the above poster, the second aspect of the movie was ABOUT racism. The movie wasn't racist, it was pointing out the racism we live with in society. So you're unimpressed with a movie that shows the reality of life from all angles???

I watched crash for entertainment and I can say that it did not change my life, views or opinions. I was an entertaining movie but not a life changing film

only seen city of god and i watched it purely for entertainment. The only film i can think of that affected me was the final destination trilogy. To think that when your times up theres no avoiding it scares me!

I saw City of God on IFC, because I heard the director was brilliant. The social commetary is enough. In America, we don't have gun toting 12 year olds ruling the streets. In that respect, it was kinda hard to watch. I don't think we, as a country, was ready for it.

Crash was okay, but it thought itself too important.

purpose issues exist. a million+a million=2. no rely your theory, this fact maintains to be actual. Socially, there's a probably limitless variety of evaluations and perspectives on each and every thing. some human beings do no longer in effortless terms like the thought a million+a million=2 and picture we would desire to continuously all only settle for while sons and daughters answer math questions incorrect (because of the fact it relatively is suitable of their eyes). this does not substitute actuality, it only types society. So, each and every thing isn't a theory, yet each and every thing is difficulty to it.

If you are referring to the David Lynch movie 'Crash', then the only effect it had on me was being able to better spot indulgent arty cr*p.
City of God I already knew about before I watched it, so I had those feelings anyway. Was glad that it reached a wider audience though.
