The war in Iraq has already gone on longer than we would like to have happened. But there are factions in Iraq that do not want peace. We would have liked to have been out of there by the start of 2004 and were prepared to pump BILLIONS of dollars into making Iraq a better place to live. You know all those things that allow people to have a better life, better utilities, schools, hospitals, etc. And a government that allowed the people a voice in how things are done. We didn't necessarily want a government that was a carbon copy of the US. We just wanted the people to be in control not some dictator.
But there are a bunch of frigging nutcases running around that don't want that to happen. They are acting like a bunch of babies. If they don't get everything their way they will throw a temper tantrum and create chaos for everyeone.
Here's a clue for you. You want the US out? Stop killing people. Hell we've wasted enough money trying to keep order to have made everything better than it was when Saddam FIRST took over. Ask yourself is a long war what the majority of Iraqis want?
If the US leaves now it won't be because they are driven out. It will be because they don't think Iraq is worth the time and trouble to stay any longer.

I think he made a mistake using Vietnam as an example of why the US shouldn't leave Iraq. The US did leave Vietnam, and it seems to have come out OK. So using Vietnam as an example, why not leave Iraq? But what Bush wants is a war that ends in a clear and decisive US victory, with Iraq not only OK, but the shining example of civilization in the Mideast. He would have been happy with a 3 month war that ended with the "Mission Accomplished" banner.

"Supposed" to be related to trade issues. America is giving away American jobs to other countries like Mexico, China, Taiwan, etc. Why not add Viet Nam to the mix as well?
Bush is a 'lame duck' at this point in his presidency. The American people voted his party into 'lame duck status'. His party no longer holds the key to trade between Viet Nam & the USA. The Democrats do. Don't look for this investment (trade), to pan out for Bush or VN.
I agree with a few other negative comments about Bush. He's an idiot, as well as a lame duck. The majority of Americans do not want this Iraq war. About 60% don't want it. It never should have happened. Now we have to find a way to leave without making things worse, if that's possible. The new "Democratic Congress" plans to investigate the reasons Bush gave for taking us to war. It has been suggested the reasons were fabricated, and the American people were lied to. The Democrats will take control of Congress in January. These investigations are way past due.

After the war in Vietnam was over there weren't factions to fight and kill each other. No bombers like the Muslims in Iraq. They had peace and an opportunity to reform and stabilize. This will never happen in Iraq because the Sunnis and Shittes will continue to kill one another until Iran takes over and makes Iraq an Iranian protectorate.

I have no idea what he wants. It is kind of ironic this is his first trip to Vietnam-he didn't choose to go during the "war". During the Vietnam war, we had over 550,000 troops compared to 130,000 in Iraq today. And now he wants to open free trade with the country we went to war with to prevent the spread of communism. Talk about irony.

My wish is that ALL our troops around the world would be brought home. And....to no longer give any kind of financial aide to other countries(that is against what our Constitution states). If people would do their history research.....the middle east will never change. Those countries need to be left alone. It's all about the oil anyway. And to make money for the president and his freind's companies.

Vietnam is becoming a better country because they are reforming from Communism and accepting more and more capitalistic ways, in fact they are begging for the U.S. to come back to them and invest..
Communism failed..
Theocrasim failed..
all you have are thug dictators..
Go back to the stone age from where you crawled out from..
