after I text from my Razor phone, I get either a check mark. does that mean it was sent and never opened?

I think it just means that it was sent successfully. On my phone, it gives a message saying message sent so the check is probably the equivalent of that.

The check mark is just showing that the message was sent. There is no way for your phone to know whether the messages were opened or not.

yeah a green check mark is good, and a red circle with a line means it didn't go through

That usually means it was sent without any problems.
