1st off is there a Mother and Father in his life?? or is it just Mom? Perhaps if you were to take him back to the place were he did his crime and make him face the person(s) whom it affects besides you and him. then what ever happens happens if you don't get him under control now just think as to what it may come to in the future. he needs your love and understanding but at the same time he needs to respect not only you but himself and everyone around him. maybe if you take him to the police station the next time it happens and let them assist in coming up with a solution, if anything perhaps it just might scare him enough to stop. it's called TUFF LOVE and boy is it tuff on the parent good luck and don't forget to pray for him everyday and everynight and tell him you love him but don't understand why he feels he has to steal to have things. he needs to work aorund the house to get an allowance to purchase the things he has been stealing. so he can see how hard people have to work to get the things they have in life.

your son must have seen someone steal and get away with it, maybe a parent or older sibling. He continues to shoplift because he has not been caught, if you find stolen stuff on him make him give it back. He will stop once he gets caught, kids usually learn from there mististakes. I guess he likes the thrill he gets when he gets something for nothing. Something must be going on with the family unit for him to do this.

When I was 8 or 9, I pinched a multi-pack of Bountys from the local supermarket - my mum took me back to the supermarket and made me speak to the manager and tell him what I had done! It worked for me, the shame and the humiliation I felt, I never pinched anything else!

Take the oversight of him, It will take more work on your part but it'll be better for him in the long run. Also Give him consequences for it, severe enough that he'll never want to shoplift again. Be the parent not the friend!

tell your kid that you kow what he does and you wont stand for it, and if you find that he/she has done it again, then tell the shop owner. This will hopefully get through to him/her that shoplifting is illegal and he/she will suffer the consequences. If this doen't work then make an appointment at the police station, and get them to show your kid where he/she will go if he/she keeps shoplifting.
The same thing happened with my brother and he hasnt shoplifted since. I hope this helps.

First of all you need to educate the child as to the seriousness of what he is doing. If you speak to the Community Liason Officer at your local Police Station. He/She will probably talk to the child and make them understand the consequences of his/her actions.

you could do what my mate did when she caught her 8year old nicking. took her to the police station and got the police to talk to the kid and show them around the cells they even shut her in a cell for a minute to show how scary it was that soon stopped her
also find out if your kid is being bullied and forced to do it cause that happend to me when i was younger
