First of all, Did you contact your isp for an additional ip?.. Adding another modem?. All you need is one modem, and a hub or router/switch to handle other computers in your home. Some modems/routers may not allow for port forwarding, Check with your isp or the vendor of your equipment. Also if your using a modem/router combo. You may have to log the routers set up for this try: http://www.portforward.com for the proper ports.
if you need more "networking" support try http://www.linksys.com it may not be your device, but it has a learning center that can guide you through networking your home.

You cannot add a modem to a ADSL or cable account without paying for additional service, which would men an additional ADSL account. You could add a router*, or even a second router to a existing DSL account to share service from $20 to $150, depending what features you would like on your router.
Each modem is identified by the ISP from it's MAC (Media Access Control)** address. That is one of the reasons you cannot just plug in a modem and start using the internet. You modem has to be "Provisioned" by your ISP (Internet Service Provider). That is a big word they use which means thay have to turn it on from their offices.
The router on the other hand is plug and play. It work like a power strip. You pug it into the eource and it will share with all other computer and devices that are on your LAN (Local Area Network).

The modem communicates with the roadrunner server. If the MAC addresses isn't one recognized by your ISP it will not assign it an IP. You will have to pay extra to have an additional IP assignment on your account. It's usually only a few extra dollars give them a call.

Your gadget (inner optimal) IP manage is determined by creating use of the router from dhcp. it rather is punctiliously beside the point in nicely-known use. Your public IP manage is determined by creating use of your ISP from dhcp. this may typically be difficulty to regulate at classes, yet might want to proceed to be unchanged.
