Emmm SOME INTERESTING ANSWERS....

Im 5'9 - 5'10 and am a size 14-16. I think my dress size suits my figure and would look ill if I was a size 8-10.

A friend of mine is 5,4 and a size 10. She looks fab and carries of any outfit well. If she was a sixe 14-16 I think she would look to plum and over weight.

I think it all depends on height and bone structure.

The average size (i'd say) should be a 12-14!!!

ZERO IS HORRID - Beautiful women diet and become a size zero and lose there looks in my opinion. It reminds me of looking at a childs figure. WHO WOULD WANT TO BE WITH SOME ONE WHO HAS THE SAME FIGURE AS A 12 YEAR OLD???????????????????

I think the question may be flawed. There's no such thing as an 'ideal' dress size, only the dress size preferred because of set criteria, eg what the media tells us, what the opposite (or same) sex prefers, what the woman herself feels comforatble in... equally, someone who is 5 foot tall may be overweight at size 14, while a six foot tall woman can be quite reasonably proportioned at size 16 or 18.
Also, when you are 16 years old, you care far, far more about these things than when you are 30. When you're a bit older, you realsie what's important, and dress size really isn't.

A women should be the size that suits them.

Everyone has a different idea of what size they should be, it all goes by the natural shape of their body and face.

I personally don't agree with size zero models and don't think they should be allowed as it does set a bad example for younger girls of today.

I am a size 16 and love being that size as I have curves in all the right places. I am that size because I want to be not because someone thinks I should be or thinks I need to lose weight. You should be a size that you want and not what other people want.

US size 0 (UK size 4) is just beyond thin, not a good look at all for anyone over the age of 12 or taller than 5ft!

I like UK size 10-12 best. My ideal measurements would be 36-26-38......guess I'm pretty close with 35-27-39.

HTH : )

well they saw the average size for a woman nowadays is a size 14.

I'm size 8, but well proportioned, i feel comfortable with the size and how good i look in a dress. However, another friend of mine is 8 also, and she is more stick insect looking, when she wears a dress it hangs off her.

No matter what size we are, we are still different. If your comfortable wear one.

Height depended I'd say.

For an average size woman, 10/12. Zero's just a bit twisted for me.

Oh, for goodness sake. Look around you. The ideal dress size is the size that fits you, which will be different from me, and her, and her over there. I'm sick of what the promotion of unattainable 'ideals' is doing to womens' confidence, especially teenagers. Fifteen-year-olds getting boob jobs, and nose jobs. We're all different; we should celebrate that. The ideal size is different for each of us.
