Yes, particularly in areas such as Ethiopia. Lack of education is the primary cause. They also don't have easy access to things like condoms because it such a poor country.

I think so, for several reasons.

1. Less awareness, or rather the awareness came later. Underdeveloped countires in my opinion (beng from one) probably caught on to prevention tips alater...life is harder, they concentrate on life and death situations vs. prevention. Peopl are grateful to live. forget live comfortably.

2. Poverty and lack of resources made awareness harder. Sex is tabooo so talking about it was not common. (as a result slower awareness). Kids dont go to school as much, no common ground to meet and educate.

3. Poverty/lack of education - no condoms....animal desire overtakes rationality.

4. People dont get blood tests for the hecks of it (gos back to poverty, and life and death being serious...you're living, tough out the minor symptoms until its bad...)so half the time they dont know they have aids and think theye JUST fine...

5. Wives submit to the husband...so they get aids, and kids get aids. Less medicine, lack of awareness of self having aids and submitting to ill husband = kids having aids. I doubt there is anything known as "marital rape" in a lot of under developed countries.

6. sex is taboo - seen with condoms / buing condoms might be embarassing to some.

HOpefully, with s o much concentration on this issue nowthings are chagning....i know in some parts of africa condoms are very higly advertised openly and all now.
