I don"t think there is an official number.
Beware, however, for the Government has a department where the employees scan local newspapers to see if the same telephone number continually appears against private car sales.
If they find a pattern, you will probably have a visit from the Customs and Excise
You can always let them know how much profit you have made on your sales and pay the appropriate Tax.

I have to also say it depends on the state.
Im almost positve some states have only a few, and some have no restrictions at all.
Are you a fix it shop? Sometimes you can get a shop licence for cheap with little or no other restrictions besides OSHA and insurance.

It varies from state to state but in Ca I think it is 2. The law on auto sales really is not enforced like many of our other laws.

I believe it depends on the state you live in. In Michigan you can sell 15 cars. Any more than that and they require you to have a dealer's license.

in the uk-- i think its 6-- most people once they are close to there limit buy there cars in their partners name or sommat.
the limit is due to taxation of proffit
