My cousin died and she was a photographer. Her images are being taken and reproduced. She has no other heirs except me. How can I create an estate to protect these images?

You would wan to consult with a lawyer who has experience in estate planning as well as IP. The paintings would probably fall under the category of IP, so therefore, if they were not copyrighted they could be fair game, especially after the death of your cousin. Good luck though, but I think you might find this is going to be a difficult battle.

unfortunately, there is no way to create a trust or anything like that after a person dies. This must be done by the person before hand.

If you are the only heir, you should contact a probate attorney and see what needs to be done to get your cousin's death declared "intestate" (meaning dying without a will). But there are time limitations on that which vary from state to state, so definitely get a qualified probate attorney.

Good luck.
