No it wont hurt the baby. In fact - most over the counter cold relief medications are actually ok during pregnany - HOWEVER - yo should always check with your doctor to make sure before you take anything. The vapor bath is fine. I have chronic sinus problems and I am allowed to take sudaphed, benedryl and even claritin.....and he even said I can use an occasional nose spray. Try a vaporizor at night with vicks vapor rub.......
DO NOT INCREASE your Vitamin C intake if you are already taking prenatal vitamins and are eating healthy because too much of certain vitamins can be a bad thing.
Hot tea with lemon and honey is good but avoid and herbal teas or herbal remedies. Herbal teas and herbal medicines can have as amny bad side effects as regular medications and can be dangerous. Go get a book called " what to expect when you are expecting" by Heidi Murkoff. It's the pregnancy bible and will help with all these questions. I refer to it almost daily right now and I am due Feb 2, 2007. Your question as well as many others that you would not expect is in there. It's excellent in describing all of these little things that worry moms and help distinguish when something is "normal" or not.
Good Luck!

I'm not sure what a vapor bath is, but when you are pregnant, you cannot take hot baths - they must be luke warm to prevent raising your core temperature. Also, if a vapor bath involves menthol at all, you must stay away from that as well. I got a cold when I was pregnant and my OB told me that I could not even suck on Halls cough drops because they are menthol.
The best thing you can do is to make an appointment with your OB. He/she can give you something to help your symptoms that is safe for your baby as well.
Sometimes the simplest things can have an impact on pregnancy and baby. Better to check with the OB and be safe. Best wishes for a safe and healthy pregnancy, delivery and baby.

Use vicks vapor rub on your chest to help congestion. Talk to your doctor about what drugs you can or can not take, also what TEAS are safe, because there are a mariad of teas you can't drink while pregnant either!

Your baby should be fine. I would suggest calling the doctor, if you want to take a medication to help with your cold, though. He/she may suggest sudafed or tylenol to take. Also, use a vaporizor when you sleep. It really helps loosen up your chest. Get well.
