Nobody cares. It's outta sight so it's outta mind. It is the same thing as Rwanda. I think we should do something but not use military intervention. Everybody is worried about Darfur but nobody thinks about for longer than two minutes.

According to the answers i got for a similar question...NO. The United States primarily does not and will not give a damn until the circumstances directly affect the nation. Although these people's lives do affect us, the federal administration could care less. Some American people do care, but many have been led to believe that their existence is the only thing that matters. The hope in continuing to discuss it it that when a group is inundated with something they often react in the opposite day...meaning they make a difference by helping, not ignoring it even more.

Why it has to be an American problem and not a European or African problem is beyond me. No matter what the USA does, the American haters in Europe and Africa will complain. Let France or South Africa or Egypt or some other damn country send its troops there. We'll cheer them on but just what are we supposed to do?
The world loves to bash America. Let them step into a leadership role for once.

People care but, expect the government to do something about it! That in it's self is a joke!!! We all care but, there is not a lot that the average Joe can do. My daughters school is raising money to send over there but, we don't even know if they will get it. That is the problem! If enough TV shows keep talking about it then maybe, just maybe our WONDERFUL government will step up and do something about it. We can't stop trying but, we also help everyone else but the people in our own country.

that is the employer of the UN not the U.S. individuals are already dealing with Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, and a bunch of different complications at residing house, they don't have time to do something for the individuals in Darfur. individuals favor to attempt to rescue themselves formerly attempting to "help" the international.

Talking about it is doing something about it. It raises our conscience.
The democrats know that they have a problem justifying intervention into Darfur, because of their stance on Iraq (and other terroristic regimes).
There is at least a tenuous link between the war on terror and Iraq. Yet dems are against fighting terrorism.
Darfur is tragic, but what justification is there for US intervention? They don't want us there.

No-one cares. The reason is, that if you give money and food to the kind of people that will just make more babies and more for helpers to feed the next year, what`s the point? there is none.
There is no point to show the misery in TV as long as they are not willing to stop the baby-factoring and as long as the religions are the rulers of how the common people think about family-sizes.

I have begun seeing public service announcements on TV, plus news stories. So the story is being brought to the public. This is raising public awareness, and will result in action. But raising the public consciencness takes a while. We are a large animal, and getting us moving is a major effort.

It does seem like none cares. Since America is busy elsewhere why has no other nation stepped up? This is another failure of the U.N.

You've got a point there. It's been my contention for a long time that instead of the U.S. trying to be world peacekeepers all the time, why don't the American government focus on what's broken here in our own country?
