The males are usually the more colored of the two and they have a gonopodium, its there male part. The females are usually a little bigger and have a normal rounded anal fin. They are usually pregnant for around 28 days, it could be more or less depending on the water and if they are stresses at all, too much stress can cause them to abort. A female can become pregnant up to 6 times with only 1 encounter with a male so they whether they are around a male or not they are pregnant almost right after they are done giving birth. The best thing to do if you want to keep the babies and not have the parents or other fish eat them is to have a separate birthing tank with lots of plants, as soon as the mother is done remove her and keep the babies in there until they are too big to fit in the adults mouths. The fry can start breeding at around a month old, that is usually when you should be able to sex all of them too. If you want to learn more check out http://www.guppies.com/index.html

A pregnant guppy will certainly look pregnant. she would be very fat in comparison to the others. And in case you purchase a girl and male, do no longer subject you have little ones for specific! ascertain you place lots of pretend flora or actual (or a mixture) because of the fact the greater youthful prefer to be sheltered from the adults who each and every so often consume the fry.

Males are usually smaller and more colourful, females have only colours on their tails and fins.
I keep them until they're full grown in a different tank.
