I work 1 full time job, and 3 part time jobs. I work from Monday to Friday from 7 to 5 as an engineer in a manufacturing plant. I after work, Mondays and Thursdays I teach Spanish to an Asian guy at another manufacturing plant. I teach French at a school Tuesdays and Thursdays, and Saturday mornings too. I work at a nightclub as a shirtless bartender on Friday and Saturday nights.

I barely get any sleep. I’ve only worked at this new manufacturing plant for two months where I worked 2 years, on the old plant I would get in at 7:30. No matter how much I’ve tried, I keep getting late to work at 7:15. I know I’m doing a great job. My boss hasn’t mentioned anything about me being late everyday. She keeps congratulating me for being new and getting more projects running than the people who’ve been working here for a long time.

I really try, but it’s hard to be somewhere at 7:00 with 5 hours of sleep. My boss knows of my other jobs.
If you were her, would you have a problem with me?

The only time I would have a problem with you is if somebody complaints about you or I thought somebody may have complaints that is not said. If the official starting time is 7 and if nobody else but you are late, it's hard to say it's okay to be late because you are doing a good job. Because if somebody else who are not doing good jobs start coming in late, I have to say to him it's not okay for him because his job is not as good. Then, I have to come up with whole new rules of what you have to do in order to come in late. So, as long as everybody is cool about your coming late, I have no problem.

Do you think it is fair to the other workers that you are allowed to be late everyday? It is your choice to work the other jobs that cause you to only get 5 hours of sleep. You need to either budget your time better so that you can give you primary job the respect it deserves and be on time, or get a different job that starts later to accomodate you. You boss may be smitten with you and overlook the fact that you are late but I can guarantee you that someone is noticing and eventually it will be an issue. If I were your co worker ,I would resent the fact that you are late everyday.

She may know that you have other jobs, but her concern is the job that you are doing for her. She has to also consider what this does to the morale of the other employees that are arriving at work on time. Are you sure you need all those commitments? It sounds like you're running yourself into the ground, though if they want you shirtless bartending, I guess it isn't showing yet. If one of those extra jobs (not the shirtless bartending) requires a lot of travel time, then maybe you should give it up.

The money is good but one day I asked my Self what good is it if I just turn around and give it to the doctor. as that is what started happening after a few years of working around the clock. That was 15 years ago and they are still getting the money and all I have to show for all the hr. is a lot of aches and pains. Hope you think about this.

Yes

I would have a problem. Work starts when work starts if you can't make it on time then your priorities are out of sync.

You have too many things going on.Slow down decide what's important to you.

When someone is paying money for a service you are suppose to give more than what you are getting paid for.

Maybe you can arrange to change your hours so you can come in at 7:30. Communicate with your boss and work it out.

I don't think I would, and plus it seems as if he/she also DOESN'T have a problem, or else they would say something. However, I DO suggest that you not burn yourself out!!! Don't work this much for too long or else you will crash! It happened to me and many other people and you don't want it to happen to you! Peace :).

She obviously doesn't have a problem with your work or she would say so. However, she should be counseling you on cutting down on your hectic schedule. That would be to her benefit as well as yours if she wants to keep you as an employ.

I advise, that if it is possible for you drop one of your jobs or you will crack! I don't think your boss has a problem or she would have mentioned it. If you feel strongly about it, talk to her.
