it's bike grease, so pretty black and gooey. i've had a quick go at it with a sponge but it just spreads. i did it today (friday 17/11), so any tips for early treatment appreciated!! i'm too scared to use bleach. what about white spirit or such like?

Hi
This type of stain is one of the hardest to get out the carpet.
I would recommend using a wet vac and slowly pour hot almost boiling water (from a kettle) on the spot and vacuum it up at the same time, (this will open up the dye ports on the carpet fibre releasing the stain. and remove the residue from the carpet).
If the stain is still visible than try putting Dawn dishwashing liquid (4 or 5 drops into one cup of water) or carpet spotter. Dampen the spot letting it soak on the stain for about 5 minutes and repeat step one. After this you should rinse the area again with the wet vac and hot water. If this doesn’t work try using orange glo or even 409. The most important thing to do is rinse the stain with a wet vac and hot water from a kettle to remove all the reside, or the spot may come back.

Only as a last resort if you have fingernail polish try acetate. Blot the chemical onto the spot and then remove with a towel and repeat, keep on doing this until stain is gone or you stop getting colour transfer. Then rinse the stain with a wet vac and hot water to remove all the reside,

Please be careful with what product you uses (neutral PH carpet cleaning solution is best). Please DO NOT put anything on the carpet that was not made for carpet.

I used to regulate an residence community and all apartments had beige carpets. we'd steam sparkling all carpets each and every of the time with a commercial steam air purifier or the Rug well being care expert while ours became on the fritz. you may hire the Rug well being care expert at Wal Mart, the food market, ironmongery shop, etc. the answer you purchase to apply with that's mushy and works nicely. i exploit the rug well being care expert on my very own carpets in my residing house. i come across that it works the perfect at getting out the floor in airborne dirt and dirt and stains yet is mushy on the carpet, I even have mild beige carpet. Dishsoap and water can no longer artwork on oil, minor burns are actually not likely to come again out regardless, you will desire to be slightly greater aggressive in case you like a sparkling carpet. you're actually not likely to injury it.

Cover with a sheet of kitchen roll and iron ,grease will get soaked up.Take care not to keep iron on same spot for too long as it will burn the carpet.I used this method on candle grease and it worked you just need to take a bit of time and have patience.
