Intensity is a gift & a curse. I feel intensely. I'm a passionate person. This makes life meaningful but can also make it painful. Feeling too much isn't always a good thing! But I'm never bored (ok well, maybe at work)! Life is a rollercoaster. High highs, low lows. Hey, it gives me a lot to write about (singer/songwriter) and inspires me to paint (artist). I'd like to be famous but even if I never am, intensity & art will always be a part of my life.

The definition of `meaningful`and the age of the poster is the crux of this question. You do not mean of course , intellectual intensity, that is for academics, scientist, and polymaths. You surely do not mean spiritual intensity, that is for personal development.. Sporting intensity, nope just watch it on Sky, don`t play it. What you mean is most likely Hedonism! Stuff going on, thrills per minute, the buzz, envy of 9th rate TV nobodies. A Poets life is never "meaningless", all Art is valid. Drugs are chemicals- as far as I am aware affecting mainly the physical body, a selfish act , escapism, more Hedonism. "Meaningful" is found in the accomplished life, which includes the brain.

Only as if an intense living could be made possible without a life enriched by sense of profound meaningfulness woven throughout. Moments can be intense; situations, circumstances, encounters and accidental happenings all can be intense. A life as a matter of fact can be a constant grind of a mix and intermix of all of these, and live can also be like a roller-coaster ride due to very many intense but opposing things happening randomly. Actually a life can be intolerably intense without any apparent reason or without us doing anything to make it so.
To live intensely however is quite another matter. That would be a life made intense because of something intense residing inside the owner of such a life. Momentary resolves, temporary intention, passing tantrums, furies, temperaments and unpredictable mood-swings add nothing to someone being an intense person, these things simply add to already existing problems and upheavals. People, especially teenagers, usually envy explosive performances and bohemian life styles of rock stars, and pop idles. They admire outrageous behaviours of their football heroes, awkwardness of Big Brother contestants and pompous behaviours of the screen performers. This is right, this is what they look for in all this media garbage – intensity in action. They naturally want to feel life most profoundly and intensely because they want to 'live life to its full'. But alas all this does not last, or it does not happen in normal living. Rock stars feed on the public mania alongside many other objectionable things, and outrageous behaviours are perfectly and soundly planned media stunts to grab attention. All this in real life is simply impossible.
Philosophical fact is the life as an original template is meaningless, it is black sheet of paper. This would the one who is going to give their certain particular meanings of their own choosing. What is the meaning of life then? It could be a purpose, a mission, a passion, a love or a care. Without these or somethings else equally life enhancing, all will be meaningless or doomed for insignificance. To be born is great, but not an achievement at all. Life is a gift they say, and right fully so. Life is not what we earn. What we earn is meaningfulness of life and therefore a potential for living that meaningfulness and sustainable intensity. To live to me is to make something out of live, to write something worthwhile upon the blank page of the basic template on a text processor. And for this one need to have something meaningful reverberating through their entire being - a burning desire or a love that simply would not go away even when life would.
