im in fifth grade and i dont know what congress is...?What is it?

In the U.S. it refers the legislative branch of the U.S. federal government (Government has three branches: 1. Executive, 2. Legislative, and 3.Judicial)

And Congress has two chambers:

1. Senate (total 100 Senators - 2 from each of the 50 States)
2. House (435 Representatives - numbers vary from state to state, based on population, for e.g California has more than Wyoming)

In politics, Congress ("a gathering of people") is the name of the main legislative body in a state that operates under a congressional system of government. In non-political usage congress is a term applied to a large national or international grouping of people meeting together with common interests or concerns, e.g. an academic conference .
