Yes, it has. Every fresh turn of phrase, every innovative way of thinking faces the possibility that it will become the status quo. Blame intellectual laziness, blame fear of being thought an eccentric, but whatever the cause, [cliche' alarm!!] it's always easier to operate within your comfort zone than outside it.
Good question...deeper than it looks at the surface.

To me thinking inside the box is what is most obvious and least imaginative. Thinking outside of the box is more creative and not the norm. I think both inside and outside of the box, it's just knowing which is the most appropriate at the time.

Of course.
After all, we don't really want someone who thinks outside the box.
We just want someone who thinks inside the box, but gives the appearance of thinking outside the box, because if you think outside the box you're in the box.
You know what I mean?

Yes! I am so sick of the phrase. Every boss I've had recently says it. Saying it shows they think inside the box.

W hatever it is.. I do not like it.. I never did like it and I think people use that stupid expression to let people think that they are part of the "in" group and It is like people who to go Starbuck's Coffee shop and sit outside.. they want people to see them paying $5 extra for a cup of coffee that they can sit next door for only $2 but they want to be part of the "in" group and that is just me talking from "inside the box"
