If you have Windows XP

Click start then run

Enter cmd and hit enter.

If the file resides on the C drive enter this command at the command prompt

chkdsk c: /F /R

Answer yes to the prompt about wanting to do on next reboot

reboot the PC

Allow chkdsk to check the drive. This can take a little time.
