That kids today don't know who the Warner Brothers characters are? My 8-year-old daughter had never seen a Bugs Bunny or Daffy Duck cartoon in her life until I found a bunch of them online. Why are these no longer shown?

They dont know who they are, because there is far to much other crap on the television, i bet they dont know who astro boy, the smurfs, the jetsons and monkey magic are either.....or punky brewster, its up to you to educate them on these wonderful programs of our childhoods.....go out and find some video tapes or dvd's with these shows on them, and have her watch them.....

It doesn't bother me as much.
Of course, with the new generation, there are just more demand for other things. Of course, there are channels that show classic cartoons. Boomerang is a channel that has the classic toons, and you can order it if you have cable or satellite. CN still shows classic shows like "Tom and Jerry," and "A Pup Named Scooby Doo."

There was a new cartoon on the WB that featured the looney tune characters, but it was set in a futuristic time frame. I thought it was awful. Oh well. You can always buy them on DVD, they started releasing them with better audio quality and stuff.

I just found out that my godbrother doesn't know about the Muppets. But he knows about Dora the Explorer, and Blue's Clues, or DoodleBops.

I guess if you're introduced to the old style stuff early, maybe it becomes more appreciated?

ps- anime wasn't a good example because it goes through the same process as American cartoons. At least they finish their series (even if it's cancelled)...Our cartoons just get canceled because of "ratings." You never hear from it again. >_>;

Yes it bothers me. My 8 year old only knows them from the loony toons movie from a few years back. The shows that are on for kids today reflect too much the lack of respect that our youth show towards adults. I wish so much for my kids to experience a childhood like I had. Being able to go to the park unsupervised and play, without fear of being kidnapped or killed. The ability to take a ball and play with friends for hours, and not need TV or video games. The ability to be care free like I was as a kid. How sad I am that my kids will never get the same freedom that I had growing up.

They are shown here in Michigan, they are babies though. It's called Baby Looney Toons and has Bugs, Daffy, Taz, and a few others. Also on our cable channel they have a network called Boomer rang that shows older cartoons like Atom Ant.

My 6 and 9 year old know the Looney Toons very well. They're on Teletoon all the time. Bugs Bunny was hilarious.

Yes, it is sad that these kids don't know about Looney Tunes.
I personally blame that on the fact that they are owned by AOL.

The classics are no longer shown. I guess the heads at AOL think they're no longer relevant. (To be fair, some of them would even be considered racist today.)

Instead of showing us the good ones, AOL spends its time developing new, bastardized versions of the Tunes. And frankly, the new style Looney Tunes suck eggs!

That might be why your daughter never watched, and doesn't even know about Looney Tunes.

although i am a fan of some anime i think it is the garbage that they show in the early morning programs like pokemon and beyblade that are the root cause they recycle the same premises such as the yugioh card game format over and over again i totally agree they should show warner bros and old cartoons that we all grew up with like the old school transformers optimus prime rules

It is a shame. The cartoons are no longer shown because some liberals determined that they contained some adult humor, racism, and violence.
So now we have japanese cartoons with big eyes, lots of blinking lights and obscure messages.

I absolutely loved the big band music playing in the background. Now a days though, you can buy them all on dvd. They sell box sets of all the classics, so if you want your kids to see them, just go out and buy them. If the stores around your place doesn't have them, order them online.
