I have scrubbed it with detergent, used Febreeze and aired it many times? It still smells and creeps back onto smelling my sheets still. Any ideas?

get rid of your cat. That's just my opinion... and I'm not much of an indoor cat person. I'd try and get a professional cleaner to bring in thier magic and clean your mattress.

Which type of detergent did you use? You need to make up a solution of biological washing powder, and scrub the area with, use old towels to blot off as much moisture as you can after, then use plain water to rinse it and again blot with more towels. This breaks down the amonia in the cat pee and stops the bad smell. Next you need to get a bottle of surgical spirit and one of those cheap spray bottle from the hardware shop. Once the area is dry (you may need to use a hairdryer if it's a big area) givie it a spray with the surgical spirit. This breaks down any remaining oils in the material that the cat will still be able to smell even if you can't. It's these oils that attract it back to the same place. Your local vets should have a nurse who deals with behavioural problems in animals, and will be able to give you a printed out sheet with all this and more info on. Good luck. after you've got it sorted, get a plastic/rubber backed picnic rug to keep on the bed by day to stop it happening again. And give kitty a stern talking to.

I have tried everything the other people have suggested before to get the smell out of a carpet. The more you do the worse it becomes. You'll never get rid of it so you should buy a new mattress and not allow the cat in there again. Incidently, cats tend to return to pee in the same place so look out!

go to a local pet store(petco if u have 1) and get Natures Miracle for cats. Make sure it says for cats cuz the regular stuff doesnt work on cat urine. Spray the Natures Miracle on it full strength and let it sit until dry. Try Natures Miracle laundry detergent if its in your sheets. This will get the odor out permanently.

the problem is that u are only cleaning the surface - the cat pee will have soaked right into your mattress, so u are not reaching the source of the problem. basically u have 2 sensible options

1) try getting it cleaned professionally - get it steam cleaned on both sides

2) throw it out and buy a new one.

seriously - u are not going to shift the smell just by surface cleaning alone. good luck.

Bicarbonate of soda is one of the few things that will neutralise urine smells. You can usually buy a big tub cheaply from a chemist/pharmacy. Mix with water and scrub your mattress, then make sure it dries throroughly. You may have to repeat the process due to the thickness of the mattress.

Don't use bleach as this will only accentuate the amonia smell.

Hope this helps!

You might try a very strong mixture of pure vineger and water, i would say 90/10. It should neutralize the urine.
Cat urine is very hard to eliminate...you may just have to buy a new mattress, also after cleaning, try and put in the sunshine to dry and air out(keep the cats away!). flip the mattress over, and put dryer sheets inbetween the mattress and box springs...good luck...

The first step is to remove the cat from the mattress.

The second step is to dispose of the mattress at the local tip.

The third step is to purchase a new mattress. Seriously.

A strong concentration of lemon juice in hot water ....let it soak right through (may have to sleep on the sofa for a few nights till it dries).
.
The smell of citrus from the lemon juice will deter the cat from wee-ing there again

People are saying buy new one and there is truth in that but consider the possiblity that the cat is actually still peeing on it and that is why it keeps coming back onto your sheets...
So before you buy a nre mattress prevetn the cat from netering your bedroom altogether.
