Is there any way of finding the code without having to pay a fortune for it?

Its really not a good idea because its so out of date.
All of the anti virus updates are added as fixes. To see what that looks like install Ccleaner and check out the list of updates and hotfixes tagged on to Windows.
These all load one by one after the program loads and that increases the time it takes to load and startup the pc.
Newer versions have all the updates integrated into the program.

There are decent freeware security programs you can use, they are only free for home users. Business users have to pay. (its probably tax deductable for them.)
Theres a full list of freeware on my blog but 2 good ones are AVG 7.5 and Avast.

I dont advice u to look for a cheap software that will leave so many popups of virus found on ur sys. Just try and gatter enough dough for a good one.
