Barry Nelson played CIA agent Jimmy Bond on an episode of "Climax" which was a live television program. The episode was an adaptation of "Casino Royale" it was supposed to be a pilot for a television show but it did not happen. Most of the short stories that Ian Fleming wrote where adapted from ideas he had for the show. The "Climax" episode came out a full 8 years before "Dr. No" became a hit. Then twelve years Iater "Casino Royale" was adapted again this time as a spoof of the canonical 007 movies. I only saw the movie once and I though it was a total mess. By the end of the movie just about everyone was James Bond because in that movie it is just an alias for the top agent so as one retires some one else takes up the mantle. Neither adaption was particularly faithful to the book (which by the way is excellent as are most of Ian Fleming's 007 books, I can't say the same for the Gardner or Benson books I have them all I just haven't gotten around to reading them yet) but the "Climax" version is pretty good. By the way the reason "Casino Royale" took so long to be filmed within the cannon was because of the episode of "Climax", since Ian Fleming had sold the rights to the book the Broccoli's were never able to film it, but with recent acquisitions of different companies the film rights were finally available to UA.

Yes. It is more or less a comedy/spoof of James Bond. It stars Woody Allen, Peter Sellers, and I don't remember who else. I didn't like this movie too much, but it did have it's moments.

They was the 1967 version, but one could argue Barry Nelson and Woody Allen
