That depends on why you were terminated.
You don't want to lie, one because its dishonest, and two because it could come back to haunt you.
If you were terminated due to a conflict with another employee, say so. You don't have to go into details, but it would help to make it clear that it was an isolated incident.
7 years in one place shows you have some staying power. While that it good, most employers would understand if you (or your previous employer) determined it was time to move on.
You also could state that you had hit the ceiling at that particular job, so it was time to move on.
If you were terminated for illegal action that was reported, that will quite likely come up on a background report.
So again, it comes down to why you were terminated, and it is up to you to sell that if you are hired, you wont be forcing the new employer to make the same decision down the road.

On applications, you should only need to put down that you were terminated. There's no elaboration needed, and if you're asked about it in interviews, manipulate the truth. Say that there was a difference in philosophies, and that your manager sought to go in a different direction. You best know what happened, so you can be creative with your wording.
The worst thing you can do is sound bitter about it during interviews. Just make it sound like it was the best thing for both parties, and it was time to move forward for each of you. If you come off as angry, that will hurt you signficantly worse than the word "terminated" on an application ever could.
Good luck.

Mention that as a person you seek new challenges and that after seven successful years it was time for you to move on and achieve new goals. Highlight that your previous job ended out of mutual agreement. Both you and your ex boss decided that it was good time for a change. Highlight that you are excited that you have the change to start fresh on a new job and that you are ready to give your best effort. Be honest and trust your abilities.

You can always say it was company restructure/cost cut. These days it happens so often and I suspect it was the case.
