I’ve been inundated with them since I took out a Readers digest subscription, they keep sending me books I don’t want and told me in the last letter they are sending a weather station! I don’t have a garden why would I want a weather station?
Is it just junk mail destined for the bin or should I fill it in and risk even more mailings from them?
Do I even have a chance of winning today’s letter says I am "favourably qualified for offer. Could be declared winner upon return on this entry notice. Prize £10,000

I doubt very much if anyone has ever won anything in the readers digest prize draw.
I used to love the magazine but then they ruined it with adds, pressuring me to buy stuff I didnt want and those stupid prize draws with their fake "your a winner" rubbish all over it.
My parents were avid subscribers for as long as I can remember for the condensed books but stopped getting them for the same reasons.

Unless you actually have won or know a winner of these kinds of contests, it's very hard to verify that they are legitimate. However, they would get into all kinds of legal trouble if they held a contest like this and didn't select a winner, and since Readers Digest is a reputable publication, I'm willing to believe their contest is legit. Publisher's Sweepstakes is another one I've always wondered about, although Ed MacMahon has been interviewed about it many times, so I know it's legit. Same with the state lottery. I actually know someone who won the NJ Lottery (my wife's aunt won $6 million in the mid 1980s).

Not that I know of. My mum used to spend a lot of time ticking YES to the boxes and sending back the car keys they sent and promises of a 100's of pounds in winnings if she entered. She got to the finals and had to sign up for some sort of insurance, she could cancel the direct debit afterwards. In the end she won £5. Which needless to say was spent on the first payment of the insurance.

My mother won £25 national savings Voucher from them years ago. She bought Premium bonds with them and then won £100!
She is the only person that I know of, I agree that bin is best.
